Shipping issues? Are you STILL waiting for your Mermaid Hunters?

Hi everyone. Recently a few of you let us know that you're STILL waiting for your Mermaid Hunters rewards. This surprised us, since we shipped the bulk of the rewards last year, and finished shipping months ago.
However, we want to make sure that everyone gets their stuff! So if your rewards have not shown up please let us know! You can contact us here on KS or at [email protected].
Shipping for this project has been surprisingly problematic. We're still getting Mermaid Hunters packages returned to us, even after 6 months. When we get one we always contact the backer and let them know we're sending a replacement as fast as we can. In the past when we get packages back its usually because we messed up the address, the backer gave us the wrong address or the backer moved. However this time we've gotten back a significantly larger percentage of packages than ever before, and in almost every case there doesn't seem to be any error. The packages are marked as "undeliverable", but the addresses are correct, and when they are resent they arrive with no issue. Its frustrating because this has left a lot of backers waiting for their stuff, and has cost us a LOT of extra money.
The new problem this week is that UPS returned two packages to us with ruined labels. I can just BARELY make out the UPS insignia, everything else is lost. They both have international stamps on them, but otherwise I have no idea who they were originally sent to.
So if you're an international customer who has not received their Mermaid Hunters package, please contact us at [email protected]. We'll get it out to you asap.

The final Mermaid Hunters update! Yeld Digital Asset Pack now available!

Hi everyone. I hope you're having a warm and safe start to 2022. I'm happy to say that Nick and I were able to spend the end of 2021 wrapping up the final parts of this Kickstarter project, and now we're eager on move on to new Yeld Stuff! This will be our last update about the Mermaid Hunters project, although we may post updates to let you know about future Kickstarter projects. Before we're done we have just a few things to talk about.
"I haven't received my Mermaid Hunters rewards!!!"
If you have not received your mermaid Hunters rewards please contact us and let us know. Packages are very often lost in the mail or sent back to us. We'll be happy to send you a replacement as soon as we can.
There are still a few people who haven't responded to their survey, haven't sent us payment for shipping or haven't given us their address. We've tried to reach out to you! If this is you, please contact us so we can send you your rewards!
We're having to reprint several of our expansions, and a very small number of you are waiting for those. We have not forgotten about you, and will send these books to you as soon as they arrive from the printer. I believe we've contacted everyone who is waiting for an expansion. If you have any questions about this please let us know!
The Yeld Digital Asset Pack
As one of our stretch goals we promised to create a pack of useful digital content to help you play Yeld online on platforms like Roll20 and Discord. It took awhile to get it all together, but here it is. Our Digital Asset Pack is an enormous zip fill containing tons of stuff, all for free! You can download it right here, or from the YeldStuff site! The Yeld Digital Asset Pack pack contains:
Tokens: Over 200 tokens representing Friends , Monsters and Companions.
Images: Over 600 images from the world of Yeld, including Heroes, Monsters, Mentors and Items of all kinds!
Accessories: 3 different Action Boards, a Map and a Calendar marked with all of Yeld’s Holidays!
Character Sheets: We’ve included our character sheets as both PDF and JPG files. You can also find the official Yeld character sheet on Roll20.net!
User Pics: A selection of over 50 images for play
We hope that you all get a lot of use out of this pack! We'll be considering new content to add to this pack in the future.

We weren't sure if the Mermaid Hunters project could be successful, but thanks to your help and support it was! Due to some unforeseen circumstances the whole project took a few months longer than we anticipated, but Nick and I are really happy to be able to wrap everything up in less than a year, and really proud of how the set turned out. Its been gratifying to see Mermaid Hunters in shops, and to be able to bring the set to conventions. We've been excited to see you sharing the game with your friends, kids, nieces and nephews, grandkids and students. We hope you'll get years of enjoyment out of Mermaid Hunters, and that it will be just the beginning of your adventures in Yeld!

What's next for Yeld?
Nick and I are busy working on our next Yeld projects. Here's what's on our plate right now:
The Monster Hunter's Guide to Yeld: Our next Yeld Core Book will be an enormous project that's part player's guide and part monster compendium. Expect new Heroic Jobs, Advanced Jobs and Monster Jobs, and new options for classic Monster Jobs like Werewolf and Deep Mage. New Weapon types and Spells. Exciting new options for fights and building Monsters. A wide selection of new Monsters and lots of world building! We hope to launch a Kickstarter for this new book later this year or early next year. In the meantime we're offering playable previews every month as part the Yeld Patreon.
New expansions: We plan to release 3 new expansions this year. Our first should be the Witch Hunter Job Guide. These expansions will be available as books and PDFs through our Patreon, the Modest Medusa Store and DrivethruRPG.
Modest Medusa: The weekly adventures of the Prince's heir and future queen of Yeld continue online!
We have a few other secret projects we hope we'll be able to share with you this year. Fingers crossed. In the meantime you can join the Yeld Discord, join our Patreon or follow us on Twitter, Facebook or Youtube!

December update! Rank 1 books and something special!

Hi everyone! I hope you're having a nice Winter. It suddenly got very cold and rainy here in Portland. Nick and I were up in Seattle at the beginning of the month for Emerald City Comic Con, and it was cold and wet there too! But we were able to meet a bunch of you and show off Mermaid Hunters to a new audience, so that was fine!
This month we get to FINALLY ship the Rank 1 Adventure Set to you. We also have something special to share.
What happened?
As most of you probably know, the Rank 1 Adventure Set has suffered a whole bunch of delays, and is partially responsible for Kickstarter rewards shipping much later than we intended. The book is larger than we expected it to be and ended up taking a lot more time to develop. It arrived at our printer right in the middle of a paper shortage, and right when our printer was experiencing some equipment failure. We originally held back shipping your rewards hoping that the books would show up in late September or early October. By November we decided we couldn't wait any longer, and decided to ship your Mermaid Hunters rewards, and send the Rank 1 books out later when they finally arrived.
And they're finally here! And they look great!
The Rank 1 Adventure Set is a big 48 page supplement, and includes 2 new sheets of tokens to use in your Yeld games! The book walks you through your first five Adventures as Rank 1 heroes exploring the Plains Region, and prepares you for your first encounter with a Hunter of Yeld!
We'll be shipping these to backers on Monday! Speaking of shipping...
Errors and returned packages
Some of you have let us know that you haven't received your Mermaid Hunters packages yet. It looks like a few packages were marked as undeliverable and are being returned to us. This is pretty normal and probably just an error with the address. But if you haven't received your package yet, please let us know!
Something special
If you're a member of the Yeld Discord you probably know VexLight. She's been an enthusiastic member of our community for awhile and a generous supporter. This Fall Vex lost her mother. She asked us if we'd create a memorial character for her mother that she could share with the community.
Sheila Harper, Mother of the lakes is a new Heroic Mentor that you can use in your Yeld games. Sheila will teach the Friends the value of compassion, community building and a bit about dealing with Vampires! Shipping Mermaid Hunters
I'm happy to say that we're finally finishing shipping Mermaid Hunters. The last boxes are going in the mail this week. We had expected to have everything out by Halloween, but another delay set us back a week. So if you haven't received your Mermaid Hunters box yet, it should arrive over the next few weeks. Maybe as soon as late this week! Please let us know what you think! We haven't seen many responses yet.
Bad news: The Rank 1 Adventure Set
The reason we had another delay shipping is production problems with the Rank 1 Adventure set. As I mentioned in previous updates, our printer is facing some issues with the world wide paper shortage. Our book has been sitting at the printer since late September, waiting to go. Our printer has been giving us regular updates, and has told us to expect to receive the book this month. We suspect this means they'll arrive in late November or early December. So the bad news is that we sent your packages out without your copy of the Rank 1 Adventures Set. We just didn't want to keep you waiting any longer. The good news is that we will ship this book to you separately as soon as we have it. We currently think we'll be able to mail it early next month, but we'll have to see what happens. We'll let you know as soon as we have more news. Don't worry, you'll get this book even if we have to cancel our order and work with a different printer.
Emerald City Comic Con
Nick and I haven't done a convention since before the pandemic started, but we'll be in Seattle for ECCC the first weekend of December. Look for us in artist alley!

October update! Rank 1 Adventure Set now available!

Hi everyone! I hope you're having a good month. October is when the weather goes from blazing hot to suddenly rainy and cold here in Portland (often over the course of a single day). I've been walking to work in the pouring down rain wearing two coats, then walking home later today with both coats under my arm because its so hot!
Anyway, lots of good news. The Rank 1 Adventure Set is done, and the PDF version is available now! We expect the Rank 1 Adventure Set books to be back from the printer around the 20th, which means we should have every order out the door before the end of this month!
Lets take a look at this newest Yeld book!
A spooky cover!
The Rank 1 Adventure Set is our biggest expansion yet! The book is designed to guide new players through their first Rank 1 adventures, and get them ready to face their first Hunter of Yeld. You can use this book as a direct follow-up to Mermaid Hunters, or as the start for your own unique Yeld campaign!
All the places you'll go!
The Rank 1 Adventure Set will introduce the Friends to the legendary Job Trainer Jocasta Cibo, who will send the new Heroes on a quest into the Plains Region to meet the mysterious Door Watcher and rescue a kidnapped Hydra child. Along the way the Friends will face Tunnel Mummies, Spelling Bees, Toothfacers, Ghost Sharks and the notorious Big Bad Bug Cartel!
Inside this 48 page book you'll find:
- 5 Rank 1 Adventures, complete with Monsters and Boss Fights!
- Game Master advice for creating adventure, adjusting fight difficulty, choosing challenges and building awesome Monsters!

If you missed out, you'll be able to buy the PDF version of the book next week, and the print version before the end of the month!
Shipping
So far we've sent about half the Mermaid Hunters packages out. If your pledge includes the Rank 1 Adventure Set, we haven't sent your package yet. Otherwise your package is already in the mail (you probably even have it by now. Let us know what you think!) If you think you should have received your package by now, please let us know. We'll figure out what happened to it. Its not uncommon for Kickstarter packages to come back to us after a few weeks.
What's left?
Once shipping is complete we'll be nearly done with this project. The last thing to do is create our Digital Asset Pack. As a stretch goal, we promised to create a pack of digital assets for Yeld players that you can use in any of your games, and especially with online platforms like Roll20 and Discord. We've been slowly working on this, and we expect to have this this available next month. This digital asset pack will include:
- Instruction for using the awesome fan made Roll 20 Yeld Character Sheet
- Character Portraits
- Tons of Monster and Friend tokens
- Token for effects like Fire and Water
- Lots and lots of art, including Weapons, Monsters and Locations
- A list of where to find all of Yeld's Spells and Special dice.
- A map and calendar.
If you have suggestions for other things you'd like to see in the Digital Asset set, please let us know. This set will be free to download for all Yeld players.
