First stretch goal funded!
about 3 years ago – Wed, Mar 03, 2021 at 11:33:49 PM

Hi everyone! I'm excited to say that we've met our first stretch goal! The first Monster for our Boss Monster Parade has been funded! This means that all backers will receive full roles for this Boss Monster for free! I'm hoping to have some new art featuring this Monster to share with you later this week!

We're already nearly half way to our next stretch goal, the Sword Master Advanced Job Guide! I think we're going to get there pretty quick!

Lets talk about Stretch Goals!
about 3 years ago – Mon, Mar 01, 2021 at 05:37:58 PM

Hi everyone! The first week of our Kickstarter has ended, and we've reached our goal! Thank you all so much! Now lets talk about Stretch Goals!

We chose our Stretch Goals carefully for this Kickstarter to provide more content and allow us to produce items that we're excited about but couldn't fit into our initial budget. We think you'll be excited by what we have to offer!

$7000 Stretch Goal: Boss Monster Parade, part 1: The Boss Monster Parade is a series of Boss Monsters you can use in your Yeld adventures. If we reach this goal we'll create a brand new Boss Monster, complete with new art and background, a new profile, advice for using it in fights and a unique piece of Treasure or Loot for your players to win!

Each Boss Monster we unlock will be added to a PDF Boss Monster Parade collection, available for free to all backers!

$7250 Stretch Goal: Sword Master Advanced Job Guide: This full color magazine sized Job Guide details  the Sword Master Advanced Job. The guide includes new art and background about the role of Sword Masters in Yeld, a full Job Profile, Job Specific Special dice, a Quest, a set of new Mentors, new Sword Styles, a new Nemesis and lots of cool swords to collect! The Sword Master Job Guide will be available for free as a PDF to all backers, or the book can be purchased as a $10 add-on.

$7500 Stretch Goal: Boss Monster Parade, part 2: Another Boss Monster, free for all backers!

$7750 Stretch Goal: Deluxe Action Board: If we reach this goal we'll produce a deluxe board game style  Action Board that can be purchased as an add-on to any physical pledge for just $6! This will be an 18 by 18 inch hard folding board, both durable and easy to store!

$8000 Stretch Goal: Boss Monster Parade, part 3: Another Boss Monster, free for all backers!

$8250 Yeld Digital Asset Set: If we reach this goal we'll create a set of digital assets for playing Yeld online on platforms like Roll 20. This will include an Action Board, Tokens, Character and Monster Illustrations and more! This will be a free download available to all backers!

More Stretch Goals to be announced!

Tokens and Q & A recap!
about 3 years ago – Sun, Feb 28, 2021 at 10:43:07 AM

Hi everyone. I hope you're having a great weekend! The Mermaid Hunters Kickstarter is less than $100 from being funded, and we hope to reach out goal in the next 24 hours!

Today we want to show you the tokens that will come with your set, and share a recap of Friday's Discord Q & A!

Q & A: On Friday about 20 of you joined Nick and I on Discord for a live Q & A. Nick and I spent an hour and a half answering questions, mostly focusing on our next Yeld Core Book (coming to Kickstarter this July).  it was a lot of fun to talk to you all this way, and we really appreciate your interest and enthusiasm! You can find a recap of the event here!

Tokens: We received our token samples from our manufacturer today, and they look great! The Mermaid Hunters Set comes with a sheet of 18 Friend and Monster tokens (the Rank 1 Adventure Set comes with a 2nd sheet containing Jobs and new Monsters). These are high quality full color  1.5 inch/1.6mm thick glossy tokens, with character art on one side and the Yeld door on the other side.

These are not final designs. We may decide to adjust or change some of the art. But right now we're really happy with how these turned out!

The tokens will will come on unpunched on their sheet (pictured below). We're also including a small plastic bag in each box so you can easily store your tokens!

Lets talk about Shipping and Backerkit!
about 3 years ago – Wed, Feb 24, 2021 at 11:31:20 PM

Hi everyone. We've received several questions about shipping and Backerkit.  We want to tell you why we chose to use Backerkit and charge shipping after the Kickstarter ends.

Backerkit is a service that helps facilitate Kickstarter fulfillment in a whole bunch of ways.  here's the ones that are important and we'll be using:

  • Backerkit allows backers to easily select the add-on items they paid for. In the past we've sent out a survey after the Kickstarter ended and asked backers to tell us what add-on items they paid for as part of their pledge. This always led to confusion, as backers forgot which items they wanted, or misunderstood which items came with which pledges. We understand that this can all be difficult to keep track of! This time after the Kickstarter ends you'll receive a link to our  Backerkit page. You'll be asked to confirm your pledge and select which add-on s you paid for from a list. You'll also have the option to select and pay for extra add-ons, if you want! We think this will be super easy for everyone.
  • Backerkit helps us collect late payments. We've run 10ish Kickstarters, and there are always a bunch of backers who, for very good reasons,  make a pledge and then find they can't pay for it. Kickstarter gives Backers a pretty narrow window to pay for their pledge, and after that the pledge is cancelled. Many, many times over the years we've had backers who missed payment because they had unexpected expenses, their credit card expired or they simply forgot ask if they can still pay for their pledge and get their rewards. In the past we've handled this through Paypal, but Backerkit gives us an easier option. Backerkit extends the window for payment for backers who need to wait a little bit to pay.
  • Backerkit allows us to accept late pledges from people who missed the Kickstarter entirely. Every time we do a Kickstarter we always hear the same thing from a bunch of fans after it ends "I didn't even know you guys were doing a Kickstarter!" Backerkit allows us to keep taking pledges for a period after the Kickstarter ends, which helps us bring in more income and helps more fans get our game.
  • Most importantly, Backerkit allows us to charge shipping AFTER the Kickstarter ends. Why is this important? if you've run a Kickstarter before you'll know that shipping is the hardest part. Estimating shipping costs can be a nightmare.  We always ship using USPS  since the service is traditionally reliable and inexpensive, yet we've found the USPS quotes for shipping costs often don't match the price at the register. In the past we've had to estimate costs so we could charge shipping as part of the Kickstarter, only to find 6 or 8 months later when it was time to ship that prices had changed dramatically. In some cases we'd vastly undercharged, and in a few cases we overcharged. This time we've decided to wait to charge shipping until we have our box sets and books in hand from our printers. That way we can get accurate prices direct from our local PO using the actual items and shipping supplies. We think this will be the best way to get you the most accurate shipping cost, and hopefully save us all a little money!

So how much do we THINK shipping will cost? That's a tough question to answer for a few reasons. First, we're snot exactly sure how much our new set will weigh. Our best guess is 1.02 pounds, and of course add-on and larger pledges will weigh more. Another complication is that shipping costs change. USPS shipping (at least domestic shipping) usually doesn't change between march and Summer, but with all the recent shakeups at the USPS we don't really know what to expect.  below I've listed our BEST GUESS for shipping costs for the base Mermaid Hunters box set, including handling and packaging (which we're providing at cost, of course). Please keep in mind these are just estimates, and may change!

  • USPS Domestic Priority Mail: $9.00
  • USPS 1st Class International (to Canada/Mexico): $22.00
  • USPS 1st Class international (rest of the world): $26.00

Please remember these are JUST estimates! Costs may end up being less or more!

Note: Someone suggested that backers from the same country may want to contact each other to arrange to have their rewards shipped together, and then split and mailed once they arrive in country.  if some of you would like to try that we'd be happy to help make it work. You can try to arrange that over on the Yeld discord.

If you have any questions about shipping or Backerkit please let us know!
